Terms & Conditions
Last updated: August 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using MentMate (AMHA), you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the application. Continued use after any update to these terms constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. Use of Service
MentMate is a peer-support and mental wellness platform intended for students and professionals aged 16 and above. You agree to use the service only for lawful, constructive, and supportive purposes. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
If you delete your account, it is deactivated immediately and permanently removed 90 days later. Signing back in at any point before then restores it exactly as it was.
3. Anonymity & Conduct
While MentMate protects your anonymity, you remain responsible for the content you share. You agree not to:
- Harass, bully, or threaten other users.
- Share content that is hateful, discriminatory, or sexually explicit.
- Attempt to identify or expose the real identity of other users.
- Impersonate other users, counselors, or platform staff.
- Use the platform to advertise services or products without consent.
- Download, save, redistribute, or otherwise share a rant room recording outside the app, or use one to identify another user.
Violations may result in account suspension or permanent removal.
4. Rant Room Recording Consent
Some rant rooms may be recorded at the host's discretion. You'll see an in-app notice before joining any such room. By choosing to enter, you consent to having your voice audio captured for that session. Only the host who enabled recording can access, play back, or delete it.
5. Mental Health Disclaimer
MentMate is a peer-support community and is NOT a substitute for professional mental health care. Content shared by peer listeners or community members does not constitute medical or psychological advice. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency, please contact a licensed professional or emergency services immediately.
Professional Counselors on MentMate are independent licensed professionals; Peer Counselors are trained volunteers, not licensed clinicians. MentMate facilitates these connections but does not employ or endorse specific counselors of either type.
6. Prohibited Content
The following content is strictly prohibited on MentMate:
- Self-harm instructions or encouragement of self-harm.
- Content promoting suicide or suicidal behaviour.
- Explicit sexual content or child exploitation material.
- Spam, phishing links, or malware.
- Doxxing or sharing personal identifying information of others.
Such content will be removed immediately and may be reported to relevant authorities.
7. Intellectual Property
The MentMate platform, branding, design, and technology are owned by MentMate and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. User-generated content (posts, messages) remains yours, but you grant MentMate a non-exclusive licence to display it on the platform. You may not copy, modify, or distribute MentMate's platform without written permission.
8. Limitation of Liability
MentMate is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, MentMate shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform, including emotional distress arising from community interactions.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notification. Your continued use of MentMate after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
